As part of a long term plan to improve the City’s alternative transportation infrastructure, together with improving waterfront public access and open space in Lower Manhattan, the new ferry terminal is a transition between interior and exterior, land and sea. The large south-facing glass wall pivots up, transforming the main waiting area from a fully interior environment to an open covered space. Canopies extending east and west of steel and fiberglass, transition from waiting area to the ferries, and back to land.
